Who We Are
Three Rivers Community Foundation (TRCF)
The Three Rivers Community Foundation grew from an idea in 1986 to the creation of a community foundation in 1989. In 1991 the Board of Directors, then and now volunteers, formally changed the foundation’s name to its existing title.
The Foundation exists to improve the quality of life for its service area within ISD 728 and the areas surrounding Elk River, Otsego, Rogers and Zimmerman. Additionally, our mission calls for us to strengthen our communities by developing, investing and distributing funds and recognizing leadership. We do this through our four funding priorities: Social, Cultural and Leisure; Public Issues and Information; Human Services; and Education and Lifelong Learning.
Our volunteer Board of Directors is committed to improving the quality of life in our service area and we invite you to be a part of our mission.
Board of Directors
Created in 1986, the Initiative Foundation is powering possible to help Central Minnesota people build and sustain thriving communities. The Foundation serves the 14 counties of Central Minnesota, providing nonprofit grants, business loans, leadership training and an array of donor services. We believe that local people have the greatest sum of initiative, knowledge and relationships to achieve a brighter future.
In partnership with Three Rivers Community Foundation, the Initiative Foundation oversees and manages financial contributions for the fund. The Foundation also provides staff support to the advisory board and ensures compliance with legal and professional standards. These services allow volunteer leaders to focus on meeting community needs and enhancing the local quality of life. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, contributions to the fund are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
